Where to Satisfy Your Sweet Tooth in Fort Collins

There is no doubting the fact that the city of Fort Collins is a foodies paradise. From the pizza to burgers, steak to chicken dishes, our local restaurants hit a home run each time a plate is put in front of a customer.

But what if your sweet tooth is screaming that it needs its own appetite taken care of? From chocolate to ice cream and everything in between, there is a fantastic dessert option for everyone looking to satisfy that appetite.

Old Town Food Tour is here to help you find these sweet options, with our top six favorite spots throughout Fort Collins. Keep in mind that these are in no particular order, and no matter where you choose, you'll walk out knowing you made the right choice:

1.) Josh & John's Ice Cream - 1981 Jessup Drive

Josh & John's is a relative newcomer to the Fort Collins dessert scene. Still, they have already impressed our Old Town Food Tour staff with the traditional along with unique ice cream flavors. Bet you can't guess which flavor got us hooked first. It wasn't the traditional favorites like vanilla, strawberry, or chocolate. It was their Gorgonzola Cracked Pepper Walnut, which we tried for the first time in Fall 2020. But if you aren't feeling adventurous like we were at the time, we can also recommend the Oatmeal Cookie, Yellow Cake, and...well...ALL OF THEIR FLAVORS! Not feeling like an ice cream cone but could go for an ice cream sandwich? They have those too and are so big they could be their own meal.

2.) Fort Collins Donut Company - The Exchange (234 North College Ave)

Fort Collins Donut Company was one of the first Old Town Food Tour partners, and there is a reason for this. If you are looking to treat your sweet tooth to something unique and satisfying, FoCo DoCo will set you up with the perfect donut. They serve classic flavors like glazed, powdered sugar, and cinnamon. But we highly recommend doing something different and try their flavors like the seasonal Strawberry Rhubarb, Lemon Poppy, and the seasonal Brown Butter Pecan. Plus, you'll always get your donuts served hot, giving them that edge that you're craving!

(Note: This summer, Fort Collins Donut Company will be leaving their space at The Exchange and will be moving almost directly across the street. You can expect an expanded menu, extended hours, and indoor seating. Keep following Old Town Food Tour's social media for all of the updates!)

3.) La Creperie & French Bakery - 2722 South College Avenue

La Creperie takes pride in the crepes and pastries that they deliver to customers daily. When your sweet tooth is craving a dessert where the highest quality and attention shows, you must stop into La Creperie to satisfy it. The Macaron cookie has always been a popular treat. Still, there is a science behind its creation to help deliver a dessert that customers keep coming back for more of. La Creperie has not only perfected that science, but they should also be writing the book on it. And their cakes? Well, you need to stop in and check it out for yourself. We promise you that you'll have a hard time stopping yourself from trying everything in the case!

4.) Butter Cream Cupcakery - 3663 South College Avenue

Butter Cream Cupcakery is another family-owned and operated business who show their passion through cupcakes daily. According to their website, they usually have seven cupcake flavors each day. This consists of their five everyday flavors, a flavor of the day, and a surprise cupcake flavor you definitely don't want to miss! (Keep in mind that on Sundays, they offer six flavors). Some of their flavors include Red Velvet, Vanilla Bean, Salted Caramel, Chocolate Dipped Strawberry, and more. It is definitely an Old Town Food Tour staff favorite when we're satisfying our own sweet tooths. We highly recommend that you stop by and try it for yourself!

5.) Nuance Chocolate - 214 Pine Street

When you need your chocolate fix (which for us is at least once per day), Nuance Chocolate is a must-visit. Toby and Alix Gadd, who are the co-founders and owners of Nuance, pride themselves in being certified chocoholics for many years. You can taste the pride and hard work they put into every piece of chocolate they serve. You can visit their cafe in Old Town Fort Collins to indulge in fresh truffles, single-origin and flavored bars, and much more. Having a hard time deciding which chocolate to buy? We suggest doing a Nuance taster flight, which will allow you to try a few different pieces to see which one is your favorite.

6.) Ginger & Baker - 359 Linden Street

Last but not least is another Old Town Food Tour partner, and it's our friends at Ginger & Baker. One of the sweet treats that our Old Town Food Tour guests sample is pies from Ginger & Baker, which are indeed a local (and sweet tooth) favorite! Apple, Cherry, Lemon Meringue, and Quadruple Coconut Cream are just a handful of the delicious pie flavors that you can choose from. Not looking for pie but want to try another one of our dessert favorites? Ginger & Baker also serves cookies, brownies, and pecan sticky buns that you'll keep going back for more of!

You can try Ginger & Baker, Fort Collins Donut Company, and other premier restaurants throughout Old Town by participating in an Old Town Food Tour! We offer a 2 1/2 - 3 hour guided walking tour of some of the best restaurants that the city has to offer. Tickets are available now as we look forward to re-engaging the local community, and introducing visitors, to one of the best food scenes in the country!
